EV Charging Levels
Level 1 (120V)
This is the slowest charging option and typically uses a standard household electrical outlet. It provides a charging rate of around 2-5 miles of range per hour of charging. Level 1 charging is mainly used for overnight charging at home.
Level 2 (240V)
Level 2 charging is faster than Level 1 and is commonly used in residential and public charging stations. It can provide about 10-30 miles of range per hour, depending on the charger's power output and the vehicle's capability.
Level 3 (DC Fast Charging)
DC fast charging is the quickest option, delivering high-power DC electricity directly to the EV's battery. It can provide approximately 60-80 miles of range in just 20-30 minutes. These chargers are typically found at public charging stations along highways and major routes.
